Trades

Lawrence, mosaicist preparing tesseri. From humble footwear to the monumental buildings of Rome such as the Flavian Amphitheatre and the Circus Maximus tradesmen and women were employed at many different levels. A building might have as many as over a dozen different type of trades found within its creation, from quarry to completion trades are found in every facet.

Generally most trade was taught through family connections with generations of children following after their fathers trade in an apprenticeship, journeyman and succession cycle. This cycle would continue long after the end of the Roman Empire and would result in a great many of our more frequent surnames found today such as Smith, Cooper, Turner.

Within Domina - LEG II AVG we have a number of civilian trades available at all levels of recreation. Including mosaicist, shoe maker, actors, medicine, architectus, artist, coin striker, fletcher, engineer and lawyer.
