School Programmes

LegIIAvg continues to deliver a vibrant schools programme, designed to bring to life, within the confines of the school, a range of presentations and activities to support lessons based around key stages 1 and 2.

Our dedicated full-time team is working harder than ever to produce interesting, exciting and informative lessons that bring to life civilian and military history during the Roman occupation of Britain in the 1st and 2nd Centuries A.D.

Should you wish to talk to us further about what we can do for your school then please do not hesitate to contact us

Here are a couple of the many comments from local newspapers and children’s letters which have been sent to us over time:

"Dear Roman Lady.
Thankyou for telling me about the Romans. It was interesting because they did not know that white lead would kill them. I didn't know that they put crocodiles pooh on or when a girl got to the age of twelve they gave up all their toys and got married. I told my mum about what you said and she was amazed.
Thankyou again

Yours Sincerely
Emma”

"History came vividly alive when a group of Romans dropped in at Westbourne Primary School. Three members of the 2nd Augusta Legion, a [Portsmouth} based group of volunteers brought with them a selection of weapons, including a heavy shield, helmet and dagger.

They also drilled pupils giving commands in Latin and put up an eight man tent to show how the soldiers would have lived.”
