The fortress in Zwammerdam is one of 18 fortresses amongst the limes in the Dutch part of Germania Inferior. On the Peutinger map the castellum is known as Nigro Pullo. Amongst the excavated the artifacts were nine ships. The outlines of the fortress are for the most part replaced today by concrete lines in the grass. Some of the stonework of one of the gates is still visible. |
