Costumes Bring St Fructuosis’ Tarragona To Life

The "Jubilee" of Saint Fructuosis began this January in Tarragona, Spain, with a parade of bishops from all over Spain, a Mass in the Cathedral and a huge firework display prior to the opening of the exhibition celebrating the Sainthood of Fructuosis, martyred 1,749 years ago .

The celebrations will culminate in the Saint Fructuosis "passion play" in June 2009, when the city will host a Papal visit and will see full participation by LEGIIAVG, for a grand spectacle. A taste of the costumes which will provide much of the colour in a year’s time formed the centrepiece of the small exhibition in the city relating to the history and the setting of the saint’s life.

In collaboration with LEGIIAVG, costumier Roger Oldhampstead and member Alisa Vanlint, have created a fantastic museum quality display detailing classical and late roman costumes that will bring to life the period for visitors to Tarragona’s Biblical Museum this jubilee year.
