LEGIIAVG was out in force in early July, with members Fiona, Cockney, and Erik presenting talks on daily life, the Roman army and medicine to over 800 visitors at Salisbury Museum.
A contubernium of legionaries set up camp with a strong civilian support for the opening of the new Museum on the Quayside in Poole.
On Sunday, members were at one of Roman Britian’s hidden gems, the "Roman Town House" site in Dorchester. Dorset archaeologist Bill Putnam attended all day and signed copies of his new book "Roman Dorset". Local metal detector clubs displayed their finds for members of the public. Those visitors who braved the inclement weather were delighted with the event and a full show is now planned for next year and it is hoped that LEGIIAVG will have the option to "dress" the covered rooms of the ancient house to illustrate how the house might have been furnished.
